BYU Basketball Dominates Mississippi Valley in Dallin Hall’s Return
PROVO, Utah — BYU Basketball put on a show Monday night against Mississippi Valley State, cruising to a 110-73 victory in the Cougars’ home opener.
Hall’s Impressive Return
The biggest story of the night was the return of BYU star Dallin Hall, who missed the team’s season opener with an ankle injury. Hall made his presence felt immediately, scoring 15 points in the first half and finishing with a team-high 25 points.
“It’s amazing to be back out there with my brothers,” Hall said after the game. “I’m just grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this team.”
Total Team Effort
While Hall led the way in scoring, BYU’s victory was a total team effort. Six Cougars scored in double figures, including guard Spencer Johnson (19 points), forward Fousseyni Traore (18 points), and center Atiki Ally Atiki (12 points).
Defensive Dominance
BYU’s defense was also impressive, holding Mississippi Valley State to just 36.7% shooting from the field. The Cougars forced 13 turnovers and blocked five shots.
“Our defense was outstanding tonight,” coach Mark Pope said. “We set the tone early and never let up.”
Looking Ahead
With the victory, BYU improves to 2-0 on the season. The Cougars will host Utah Valley on Friday night before traveling to Las Vegas to face No. 14 Oregon on Monday.
