Chiefs Clinch 2024 Playoff Spot After Recovering Raiders Errant Snap

The Kansas City Chiefs have clinched a spot in the 2024 NFL playoffs after recovering an errant snap by the Las Vegas Raiders in the final minutes of Sunday’s game.

The Play in Question

With just over two minutes remaining in the game and the Chiefs trailing 20-17, the Raiders attempted a punt. However, the Raiders long snapper bobbled the snap, and the ball rolled onto the turf. Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark recovered the ball and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown.

Significance of the Win

The win gives the Chiefs a 12-5 record and clinches their sixth consecutive AFC West title. It also marks the 10th time in the past 11 seasons that the Chiefs have made the playoffs.

Post-Game Reaction

“It was a huge play,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said after the game. “We needed that win to clinch the division and secure a playoff spot. Our defense played great all game, and Frank Clark made a huge play when we needed it most.”

Clark, who was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance, said he was just happy to be able to help his team win.

“It was a crazy play,” Clark said. “I saw the ball on the ground, and I just picked it up and ran. I’m glad I was able to score and help us get the win.”

Looking Ahead

The Chiefs will close out the regular season next week with a game against the Denver Broncos. They will then enter the playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the AFC.
