Kaprizov Has Goal, Assist To Lift Wild Past Blue Jackets

The Wild started the game strong, controlling possession and generating several scoring chances. Kaprizov broke the deadlock midway through the first period, capitalizing on a rebound to give Minnesota the early lead.

In the second period, Kaprizov set up Jordan Greenway for a goal, extending the Wild’s lead to 2-0. Greenway received a pass from Kaprizov behind the net and fired a shot past Blue Jackets goalie Elvis Merzlikins.

The Blue Jackets showed resilience in the third period, with Patrik Laine scoring to close the gap to 2-1. However, the Wild defense held strong and prevented Columbus from tying the game.

With just over three minutes remaining, Connor Dewar added an insurance goal for the Wild, ensuring the team’s victory.

“Kaprizov was phenomenal tonight,” said Wild head coach Dean Evason. “He’s a special player who makes a difference every game.”

“It was a great win for us,” said Kaprizov. “We played well as a team and got the job done.”

The Wild’s victory puts them at 20-14-3 on the season, firmly in the playoff race. They will face the Boston Bruins on Thursday before embarking on a three-game road trip.
