Tough Crash For Mikaela Shiffrin During The 2nd Run Of Women GS In Killington

Shiffrin was vying for her sixth straight victory on the Killington course when she lost control and flew off the course midway through the run. The 27-year-old skidded into the safety netting and remained on the snow for several minutes before being taken down the mountain on a stretcher.

Shiffrin was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Early reports indicate that she sustained no serious injuries but will undergo further tests to rule out any underlying issues.

Despite Shiffrin’s absence, the race continued with Sweden’s Sara Hector emerging victorious with a combined time of 2:11.66. Denise Feierabend of Switzerland finished second, while Italy’s Federica Brignone took third.

Former Olympic skier and analyst Lindsey Vonn expressed concern over Shiffrin’s crash but remained optimistic about her recovery. “It was a scary fall, but she’s a tough athlete,” said Vonn. “I’m confident she’ll bounce back.”

“We are monitoring Mikaela’s condition closely,” said U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team spokesperson Katie Shafer. “Our priority is her health and well-being. We ask for privacy at this time while she undergoes medical evaluation.”

The severity of Shiffrin’s injuries remains uncertain, but it could potentially impact her preparation for the upcoming World Championships in February. However, given her history of resilience and determination, it is expected that she will make a strong return to competition when ready.
