Trae Young Dazzles with Historic 22 Assists, Hawks Stun Cavaliers 135-114
Atlanta, GA – In a stunning display of court vision and ball distribution, Atlanta Hawks star point guard Trae Young regaled fans with a record-breaking 22 assists to propel his team to a resounding 135-114 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night.
Young’s Unparalleled Vision
Young’s exceptional skillset was on full display against Cleveland. He orchestrated the Hawks’ offense with effortless precision, dissecting the Cavaliers’ defense with pinpoint passes that set up his teammates for easy buckets. Young’s 22 assists marked a career-high and tied the Hawks’ franchise record.
“Trae sees the floor like no one else,” said Hawks head coach Nate McMillan.” He has a unique ability to create scoring opportunities for his teammates even when they’re not open.”
Balanced Scoring and Defense
Complementing Young’s playmaking magic, the Hawks boasted a well-balanced scoring attack. Five players scored in double figures, led by John Collins with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Dejounte Murray added 22 points, while Clint Capela contributed 16 points and 12 boards.
On the defensive end, the Hawks clamped down on the Cavaliers, forcing 20 turnovers and holding them to 39.2% shooting. Young’s defense was particularly impressive, as he recorded three steals and two blocks.
“Our defense was solid tonight,” said Young.” We were aggressive and forced them into making mistakes. We wanted to make sure they couldn’t get into a rhythm.”
Cavaliers’ Struggles
The Cavaliers struggled to keep pace with the Hawks’ offensive firepower. Darius Garland led Cleveland with 24 points, but the team’s shooting was poor, converting only 43.5% of their field goals. Jarrett Allen added 20 points and 12 rebounds, but his efforts were not enough to overcome the Hawks’ onslaught.
